Heaven

Starlit sky and moonlit night

I walk gently through the grass

Dew collects on my toes

A shiver running up my spine

Crickets chirp in the distance while a tree frog calls out for his mate

It is here I feel most alive.

In the woods, enveloped by darkness

The crackling fire waiting for me down the bend

I know I will find you waiting, sitting on the blanket

glass of wine in hand.

I move forward in silence listening to my heartbeat

Only a few more steps

I reach you and look into your eyes, my head leaning against your chest

Heaven isn’t an abstract place that we go to when we die

It is here, it is now, it’s this night, just you and I.
